چکیده
Aim: To determine the rate of malignancy in complex renal cystic lesions. Material and methods: We studied 111 patients both male female above age 18 years with lesions classified as Bosniak category IIF, III, IV on CT. Patients categories I II were excluded from study. The was analyzed. Results: mean 47.58±15.05 years. 27% 29.7% III 43.2% IV. overall 62.2% all who presented IIF,III 33.3%, 54.5% 85.4% respectively. Conclusion: Malignancy observed Keywords: Malignancy, Renal cysts, classification

Evaluation of Bosniak category IIF complex renal cysts
PURPOSE To evaluate moderately complex renal cysts of Bosniak category IIF. MATERIALS AND METHODS The regional ethics committee approved the study. In the period 2003-2009, radiological CT reports of 8,402 CT examinations of the kidneys were analysed retrospectively by one radiologist. All complex cystic lesions in the kidney (n = 550 in the same number of patients) were reclassified accordin...
متن کاملBOSNIAK CLASSIFICATION OF RENAL CYSTIC MASSES WARREN and McFARLANE The Bosniak classification of renal cystic masses
population aged > 50 years have renal cysts [5]. Most cysts are benign and asymptomatic. A palpable mass, pain from haemorrhage into the cyst, obstructive symptoms and infections are rare presentations. A simple cyst is a fluid-filled, non-neoplastic lesion; most are unilocular, contain straw-coloured fluid, arise from the cortex and are smooth-walled. On CT they are sharply marginated, round, ...
متن کاملEvaluation of Bosniak Type IIF and III Renal Cysts with Contrast-enhanced Ultrasound
Letter An increase in the segmentation visualization techniques resulted in a parallel, more frequent determination of complex renal cysts. Renal cysts were classified by Bosniak, and this classification was modified in 2003, in order to attempt to narrow the large interval between type II and type III by the definition of IIF category [1]. However, none of the recent diagnostic modalities coul...
متن کاملClinical Outcomes of Bosniak Category IIF Complex Renal Cysts in Korean Patients
PURPOSE To assess the clinical reliability of the Bosniak IIF category and to determine the proper radiologic follow-up duration and intervals for category IIF complex renal cysts. MATERIALS AND METHODS We studied 201 patients with category IIF renal cysts from January 1996 to January 2011. Renal cyst progression to category III was defined as an increase in complexity of the cyst in follow-u...
متن کاملRenal cyst masses (Bosniak category II–III) may be over evaluated by the Bosniak criteria based on MR findings
A classification system of renal cysts developed by Bosniak is based on computed tomography (CT) findings and has been applied to deal with the complex cystic renal masses. Magnetic resonance (MR) has excellent soft-tissue resolution, it has been used to further evaluate some complex renal lesions, especially those suspected of containing soft tissue components and hyperattenuating cystic lesio...
